I did just make a black forest bundt cake this morning, though
Every once in awhile, I want to chuck it all and dream of opening a restaurant or a bakery. Then I realize how much WORK it would all be, and get back to my paper-writing. This post, also, highlights the realities of what being a chef is like, in case you have similar (image from Williams Sonoma)

Happy "Shining" Trailer
There was a film editing competition a while back where editors were asked to cut trailers for famous films in a completely different genre. My favorite - and I believe this was the winner - is this trailer of "The Shining" that makes you think you're about to see a romantic comedy. Jack Nicholson's mania suddenly becomes physical humor, the dreaded hotel room door becomes heartwarming, and a creepy kiss with a dead girl becomes romantic. Amazing.
C is for cookie!
Do you ever wonder whether Sesame Street characters have existential crises? Wonder no longer.

You just have to love it.
I do have a wee quibble with their conclusion (look in the comments to see what I think should actually be the accurate closing line given their argument), but seeing that this is an advertisement for French classes, I see why they ended the way they did.
Sick (in both senses) animation!

I just want to know where he buys all the little dolls
This London-based artist takes little dolls, and strategically places them throughout the city (and other places), then photographs them up close and from far away, so you can see just how teeny they are. It's a fascinating exercise in scale.

OTHER creme de la creme

Oh LoLcats. Thank you for entertaining me for countless hours. You combine cuteness with geeky references in a way that always surprises and satisfies.

Two fabulous blondes
This YouTube video combines Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" and animation from Disney's Alice in Wonderland. It works marvelously.

So excited for new television shows!
You know that it's a sad, sad couple of weeks when you are actually so busy you can't procrastinate. But you know what? With the writer's strike over, and all the wonderful, very dearly missed television shows coming back on the air, ah, I smell more wasting time ahead of me. In case you missed your favorite show, or you need to brush up (but, ahem, can't actually watch the shows online at work or wherever you are), check out the sites below. Television Without Pity gives more comprehensive recaps (they used to be funnier, but sadly aren't as snarky as they were before), while TVgasm recaps more reality shows, and they really let their mockery fly (their captioned pictures are especially priceless).
